Abstract

Deforestation is an environmental problem affecting ecosystem balance, climate change, and human sustainability. This study examines human responsibility toward the environment from the Qur’anic perspective through the concepts of khalifah, amanah, fasad, and mizan. The method used is library research with a thematic interpretation approach to Qur’anic verses related to environmental preservation. The findings show that humans, as khalifah, have moral and spiritual responsibilities to protect and manage nature wisely, fairly, and sustainably. Exploitative deforestation practices contradict Qur’anic values. Therefore, the internalization of Qur’anic values in policies, education, and public behavior is essential to prevent and overcome deforestation.
